We support families in our neighbourhood

With this year’s Christmas donation, we are supporting AWO projects such as HIPPY and strengthening family education, integration and early childhood development in Nuremberg.

Back in the summer, we were on site at the AWO Kreisverband Nürnberg e.V. for Nuremberg’s Volunteer Day, ‘In Aktion’. We renovated rooms, painted walls and transformed a communal area into a real haven of comfort with a colourful mural. In doing so, we experienced first-hand the passion and professionalism the AWO team puts into supporting families every day. These encounters left a lasting impression on us – and strengthened our desire to support this commitment through our Christmas donation.
With our donation, we want to help ensure that the AWO’s vital work can continue. Especially now, when many local authorities are under financial pressure and social services are often under scrutiny.

Parenting programmes such as HIPPY are invaluable

Through the AWO Nuremberg District Association, parents receive materials and guidance so that they can support their pre-school-aged children at home through play. Through stories, games and learning activities, HIPPY not only strengthens children’s cognitive and language development, but also the parent-child relationship, and prepares children well for starting school.

What is particularly valuable is that these programmes reach exactly where they are needed: families with a migrant background or families who are otherwise difficult to reach. They receive support with parenting issues and the encouragement to actively accompany their children on their journey. Through low-threshold services, practical tips and personalised support, the programmes create spaces for exchange and guidance – particularly for families who would otherwise have little access to such services.

We are delighted that our donation is helping AWO Nuremberg and these families. Together, we can contribute to greater equality of opportunity and educational equity.
