Background

As a transmission system operator, 50Hertz is responsible for the planning, construction and operation of the supraregional electricity grid in northern and eastern Germany. In doing so, the company creates the infrastructural conditions for the energy transition – whilst operating within a highly complex political, planning and social environment. Grid expansion projects alter landscapes, affect local interests and require a transparent, dialogue-oriented approach.

Our role

Kaltwasser is one of the framework agreement partners for public engagement at 50Hertz. We support the transmission system operator in the conceptual development of its communication and engagement processes. The focus is on strategic consultancy, conflict analysis and impartial facilitation during sensitive project phases – particularly where planning, political and social perspectives intersect.

Our approach

We create spaces for dialogue and understanding: through in-depth analyses of stakeholders and situations, structured preliminary discussions with all parties involved, and facilitation and advisory formats that focus on trust, transparency and a solution-oriented approach. The aim is to facilitate sustainable understanding in challenging situations and to provide communicative support throughout the implementation of grid expansion projects.
