Agenda setting and dialogue meets
Press conference by bayernkreativ

The Bavarian Centre for Cultural and Creative Industries (bayernkreativ) commissioned Kaltwasser Kommunikation to organise, run and chair this year’s press conference. The occasion was the presentation of the forward-looking report “2nd Report on the Cultural and Creative Industries in the European Metropolitan Region of Nuremberg”, which examines the transformation of the cultural and creative industries (CCI) in the European Metropolitan Region of Nuremberg.

Key finding: With its growing importance to the economy as a whole and its polycentric distribution across the entire region, the sector has become a driver of innovation. The press conference will focus on the detailed findings, such as the development of the eleven sub-markets and the KuK from 2009 to 2016, as well as projections for the future.

The objectives:

  • Raising awareness among regional and national media of the creative sector as a relevant economic issue
  • Generating greater attention for the creative industries and setting the agenda on key issues
  • To establish a central platform for dialogue and exchange with stakeholders in the creative industries

Media placements and accompanying reports on the press conference

A joint press release with an embargo from key figures in business and culture provided relevant background information for local and regional newspapers, television and radio stations, as well as business media. The detailed follow-up report on the bayernkreativ website provides interested parties with all the details regarding the press conference and the content presented.

High-profile panel, digital press kit, exclusive soundbites

The traditional press conference combined with digital elements: journalists on site had the opportunity to access a digital version via a QR code. There, the 118-page report was also available to them five days before publication.

On the podium:

  • Michael Söndermann, author of the report and head of the Office for Cultural Industry Research in Cologne
  • Dr Michael Fraas, Economic Affairs Officer for the City of Nuremberg, Managing Director of the Forum for Economy and Infrastructure of the European Metropolitan Region of Nuremberg
  • Anke Steinert-Neuwirth, Cultural Affairs Officer for the City of Erlangen, Managing Director of the Culture Forum of the European Metropolitan Region of Nuremberg
  • Oliver Wittman, Head of the Bavarian Centre for Cultural and Creative Industries

Philipp Nieberle, Managing Director at Kaltwasser Kommunikation and Head of the Nuremberg Office, moderated the press conference. Following the official proceedings, journalists were able to engage with the panellists and gather individual soundbites.
