There are social issues that appear definitely more attractive than prison. Nevertheless, we were so impressed about the idea and the paintings of the art group that we decided to create a PR concept for the Kunst im Knast-group in the penitentiary of Nuremberg voluntarily.
Background: The Kunst im Knast-group
Ten years ago, the art group in the penitentiary of Nuremberg was founded. Since then, detainees paint and draw fascinating paintings that should be familiar to the public.
Making jailart tangible
During the creation of the PR concept, we dealt with the following questions: How can you win regional attention for a “no-society issue”? How can we connect topics like art and prison? And how can we organize the sale of the paintings?
There are many challenges to handle with, especially the fact that we have a very low budget. Anyway, our greatest capitals are varied paintings with stories that equally scare and fascinate.
In close collaboration with the penitentiary of Nuremberg, we developed comprehensive measures: organization of expositions, concept and text for a new website, planning and carrying out a guerrilla action in the center of Nuremberg. Traditional media relations accompany the actions.
